4 Tips for Cultivating the Spirit of Loveliness

3 Jun

Introduction

The spirit of loveliness applies to every human being.  Physical beauty has a purpose—It can lead us toward spiritual loveliness because we are created in the image of God and our true beauty emanates from our human spirit.  It can, therefore, lead us to experiencing the love of God because He IS Beauty.  The beauty we all see, hear, feel, taste and smell affect the reality of our spiritual existence.  So next time you see beauty in a person remember that your reaction is not merely a physical experience but also a spiritual one!

Tip #1.  Spend time each day with the Creator of beauty—your own creator/designer.  A real connection to God requires time for the relationship to grow in intimacy.  Connecting daily with your Maker through talking to and listening to what He drops your thoughts elevates your frequency and lights up your countenance.  What is countenance?   It is the spiritual/emotional quality displayed on the face and is an indication of mood, emotion, and character.  It is either lovely or dull.

Sometimes a person’s frequency is so low that it is very difficult to find the energy to even care about loveliness.  This is where aromatherapy can be very helpful.  The sense of smell is the only one of the 5 senses that enters the brain directly without going through the central nervous system.  Within 10 minutes of smelling an essential oil, it has reached and affected every cell in the body.  To make my time with God more meaningful, I like to begin by using oils with chemistries that are mood elevating.  I also use essential oils like Frankincense or Sacred Sandalwood which have constituents that open the heart making it easier to connect with God.  I teach my clients how to do this.

Tip #2.  Check your happiness quotient.  Right now, due to Covit-19 there is great emphasis on building a healthy immune system.  The immune system responds to the emotional state of happiness and the happier you are the healthier you are! The happier you are, the more easily you smile.  And nothing contributes more to the spirit of loveliness than a smiling face!  How do you increase your happiness? Practice gratitude, serve others, get outside, and play with family and friends.  Let’s face it though, it’s hard to be happy when you are not feeling well physically or emotionally dominated by fear.  Essential oils support physical and emotional wellbeing in hundreds of ways!  They support healthy respiration, digestion, healthy functioning joints/ligaments, and healthy cognitive function.

Individual oils can be blended together into targeted synergies to accomplish goals such as stimulating feelings of courage and valor to overcome fear in challenging circumstances.  As an aromatherapist, I always teach my clients first how to use essential oils to help create awareness of their emotional state. And second, how to shift that state when necessary.  This personal growth is called Emotional Intelligence Quotient or EQ.  I is the best beauty treatment I know, because no one is attracted to a negative complaining person no matter how physically beautiful.

Tip #3.  Cultivation of the spirit of loveliness requires observation.  You must look for loveliness.  For example, instead of merely pounding the pavement just to check off outdoor walking/jogging exercise from your to-do list, slow down or stop intermittently to observe all the beauty in nature.  The sights, the sounds, the smells.  Look for magazines, books, art, fashion, food arrangements, aromas, etc. that inspire creativity.   Essential oils can increase creativity by stimulating certain messages to the brain and enhancing relaxation and positivity. Leonardo Da Vinci is said to have used aromatics as a method of inducing inspiration, and his essential oil of choice was Neroli oil. Neroli is a extracted from orange blossoms and is a citrus-based fragrance with the ability to elevate the mood and relieve anxiety.  Other oils credited with the ability to enhance creativity are Bergamot, Frankincense, Jasmine, Cypress, Orange, Eucalyptus, Lavender and Peppermint to name a few.  Oils can help stimulate imagination.  Imagination when activated is like faith.  It is a spiritual force that creates substance.  The substance we are learning how to create today is loveliness.  For example, I imagine in my head a beautiful synergy of a complete outfit.  I combine in my imagination, endless combinations of up-to-date fabrics, colors, textures, patterns, accessories, and fragrance that work together to create a lovely personal style!

Tip #4.  My final tip for cultivating the spirit of loveliness is– take charge of your thought life.  Philippians 4:8 really hones in on the discipline it takes to control your thoughts.  It says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

May God bless you with the spirit of loveliness!
